As part of the Riverside Symphony's 28th season, The City of Trenton will once again host one of the state's longest running professional symphonies at its iconic Planetarium at the New Jersey State Museum for an intimate performance of music featuring chamber music classics as well as works by The Beatles, Ennio Morricone, Phillip Glass and more.
The Riverside Symphonia’s "The Music of Starlight" will expand its regional audience by incorporating the uniqueness of the planetarium venue while drawing local seniors to experience the powerful synthesis of visual and musical arts by hosting a special matinée concert. This concert will work in conjunction with an evening concert that will be open to the general public.
In addition to collaborating with the State Museum, Janssen Pharmceuticals and New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company are underwriting the "senior" concert to allow for the participation of the region's senior community.
"We are thrilled to partner with the State Museum to help bring our audience to Trenton to experience the city's incredible culture," said Paul Kuhl, Chair of the Riverside Symponia Board. "They will see a planetarium show, experience classical music and learn about the museum's treasures." Kuhl added, "Janssen and NJM's support is the critical element of this opportunity to share classical music and astronomy with many seniors and we are extremely grateful for their support."
"Cooperation between the State Museum and the Riverside Symphonia highlights how we can bring wonderful attractions to our Capitol City, to the benefits of both groups. I am excited for this concert and I am thrilled to see the continuation of this strong regional arts partnership," said Assemblyman Reed Gusciora.
Riverside Symphonia Executive Director Cullen McAuliffe stated, "Our mission is to foster music appreciation, and performing at the State Planetarium is a great way to engage our regional audience to come to the City of Trenton and have a truly unique experience under the planetarium dome." Tickets can be ordered on-line or by phone. Visit the Symphonia’s website, www.riversidesymphonia.orgfor more information or call the Symphonia at 609-397-7300. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate the evening of the concert while quantities last.
